|M&S Collection Sparkle Ruched Front Pleat Velour Dress *|
work outfit - jumper / boohoo
shoes/new look (old)
party outfit - leopard scarf/zara
Firstly, I'd like to explain that this time of year is actually THE worst time of year for pictures in outfit posts, as you can just about see in the second photo the dress that I've used as the staple of my two outfits is blue sparkly velvet NOT black!
This year NYE is on a Tuesday, as it's not a bank holiday either many of us will be at work and might need to go straight out to bring in the New Year. But what to wear?
I've taken a lovely dress from the M&S party range and created both a work and a party outfit to show how a change in make up and accessories can really make a difference.
I added a contrast chunky knit jumper to the dress for both comfort and because I like the big jumper and skirt look. I added sensible heels and a necklace to make it more formal. I kept the make up very simple, this means I can add to it later without having to start from the beginning.
Hair-wise I went for a bun, because I feel it can be rocked at the office or at a party! Also, I know my hair and If I curl my hair in the morning, by the evening it will be flat and useless! Also in this weather very frizzy! If your hair is a bit more manageable than mine I would recommend twisting it into a bun for work and then un-do it for the evening - using a touch of dry shampoo to add volume.
For this I removed the jumper, necklace and sensible shoes and instead added a silver necklace, furry leopard print scarf and my chunky ankle boots. To help transform the look I darkened my eyebrows, added a flick of eyeliner and a statement lipstick!
What do you think of my day to night transition? How would you mix it up?
