Fashion is a like a carousel, going round and round in circles, I mean boot cut jeans were a firm favourite of mine 10 years ago and now they are pushing their way back in! There are certain trends from decades gone by that are never far from the runway.
A big one for me is the 90s grunge look. This was basically my uniform for my teens. My style muses were Courtney Love (I wore a lot of nighties as dresses), Brody Dalle, Gwen Stefani and Tairrie B.
As part of New Looksoks Fashion Timeline I was asked to style myself in my favourite 90s trend and share some tips for achieving the look, so here we go.
90’s Grunge Styling Tips
#1 Treat Leopard print as a neutral – let’s face it, it goes with everything
#2 Checks, plaids and tartans are your best friend (along with your old band tees!)
#3 Ripped jeans, holey t-shirts, laddered knitwear are wins – don’t throw them away!
#4 Replace the ‘bangles up to your elbow look’ with multiple rings – they are more grown up and chic, while still being a bit edgy
#5 Layers, layers, layers.. a tshirt, a shirt a leather jacket, skirts or dresses over jeans – it’s all a good
