Le Petite Ballon wine subscription

Happy 2018 guys! Sorry that I’ve not posted sooner. I’ve been suffering from what I imagine is the Aussie Flu. It really does take everything out of you, I’m feeling much better now, but not 100%. Hopefully I will be back to normal next week.

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen the unboxing video for my December Le Petit Ballon wine subscription box. Yes you read that right, WINE SUBSCRIPTION BOX. The subscription service starts off at £24.90 a month for a discovery box of two bottles. Each bottle is picked by Jean-Michel Deluc, former Master Sommelier of The Ritz, Paris. If you fancy yourself as a bit of a wine connoisseur, then for £39.90 a month you can recieve Jean-Michel’s selection of the crême de la crême of wine.

Whether you know what you like when it comes to wine, or not, Le Petit Ballon has a great interface when you sign up that will help you discover your perfect wine. During sign up you’re asked a series of questions to get an idea of your palate, so that they can send you wine that you enjoy.

Red, red Wine…

First up is a Bindi Sergardi La Boncia 2016. This is an Italian Chianti from Tuscany. The family run vineyard can be traced back an impressive 23 generations. The women of the family are the driving force behind this label – wow Girl power!

This red is a 100% Sangiovese, fermented and aged in steel vats to fully express the grape variety itself, producing an elegant and fruity taste. While I don’t hate Red wine it is very rarely my first choice. Joe and my sister however love a good glass of red – at this point you cut my sister, and I’m pretty sure it’s not blood you’ll see!

Despite red not being my favourite, I could easily see myself drink this regularly with a meal. Le Petit Ballon recommend serving it with Pan fried herby Lamb and I can see why. This red isn’t too overpowering, which is a nice relief and has a fresh, lightly fruity taste. The aroma is filled with cherries, raspberries, a hint of mint and liquorice.

Le Petit Ballon sell La Boncia at £12.90 a bottle for subscribers or £15.50.

Chardonnay YAY!

This particular Chardonnay is Château des Bois – Mâcon Milly-Lamartine 2015. Created by Xavier Greuzard, who took over the vineyard five years ago. Milly-Lamartine is one of the most highly regarded wine-making villages in the area, and this Chardonnay has earnt the honor of having the village stamped on it’s label.

I often drink wine with my mum, who can only drink New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, preferably from the Marlborough region. I am not joking, everything else gives her really bad acid. As such, I mainly drink the same as her. I have to admit it’s been a while since I have drunk a Chardonnay.

So what was my verdict? Le Petit Ballon, say that the Château des Bois is perfect for brunch and I would agree. It’s soft on the palate, turning fresh and zesty towards the finish. Easy to drink while catching up with your BFF, or I imagine to sip on in a beer garden in summer.

Le Petit Ballon sell Château des Bois at £12.90 a bottle for subscribers or £15.50.

I can’t wait to see what is in my next box!

Love Lilla xx
